Weekly Update 09/24/2020 – Fr. Cyril Gorgy

Beloved Holy Resurrection Church family, I miss you and am praying that you are well and safe.

This week, representatives from the HRC Board visited a potential property to be used as our church.  The current use of the property is a school, located at 2225 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90305.  The school is adjacent to the Holy Annunciation Coptic Orthodox Church.  The school will be available for viewing this Sunday, September 27, at 11am.  We are asking all HRC congregants to visit the site and provide your feedback if we should pursue this property for our church.  Please immediately provide your feedback through this link.

We currently pray all Divine Liturgies outdoors. No registration will be required for this Wednesday and Sunday.  All participants are expected to read and STRICTLY follow the General Guidelines below.  Parking is limited and therefore carpooling is encouraged.  Please bring your own foldable chair.

This Sunday we will be celebrating the feast of the Cross. In this feast we remember when the Patriarchs of the Christian churches carried the honorable Cross of our Lord in a procession around the Holy Resurrection Church, in Jerusalem, in year 335.  This took place on the day after the Patriarchs consecrated the Holy Resurrection Church and its altars.  We anxiously look forward to the consecration day of our Holy Resurrection Church, which the Lord is preparing for us.

This Sunday Divine Liturgy will start earlier then usual, from 7:20-10:15am (Procession of the cross at 7:30am).

HRC Fellowship Meeting will be held virtually on October 1st from 7-7:45pm.  Fr. Kyrillos Ibrahim will be our guest speaker. See flyer below.

HRC Fellowship Meeting Night at Burton Chace Park will be on Saturday, October 3rd at 4PM. Come and bring a friend!

Sunday School grade shift was recently implemented.  If you have a 4 year old who has aged up and would like to attend the preschool/K Sunday school zoom meeting, please contact me at (310) 487-6151.

Last Sunday, we meditated on 2 Timothy 2:4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.  We learned that as spiritual soldiers, we should not be ENTANGLED with the worldly stuff.  We deal with the world as being in the world but we should not allow the things of this world to weigh us down.  This goal of not being entangled in the materialistic world is motivated by the desire to please our Lord who enlisted us.

May our Risen Lord support and protect you, and your family by the power of His Holy Resurrection.  Missing you very much.

For His Glory,

Fr. Cyril
